Academician Program Goes to the Grassroots | The “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Villages Plan” Demonstration Site Established at Zhouqu County People’s Hospital

On December 5, the demonstration site for Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation’s “Thousand Counties and Ten Thousand Villages Initiative” was officially signed and unveiled at the Zhouqu County People’s Hospital, marking the successful implementation of the high-quality medical resource—“Triad Sequential Therapy for Rheumatology and Pain.” This practical initiative, which benefits the entire county’s population, enables the residents of Zhouqu to conveniently access high-level rheumatology and pain treatment services right at their doorstep, eliminating the need to travel far away.
At the event site, the team from Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation engaged in an in-depth exchange with representatives from medical and health institutions in Zhouqu County regarding the implementation of the project. The principal officials of Zhouqu County People’s Hospital provided a detailed introduction to the current status of the hospital’s specialized departments, as well as the preparation and operation of the “Rheumatology and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy” training base and demonstration sites. Relevant officials from the Expert Workstation explained on-site the progress being made nationwide in rolling out the project. Both sides also jointly watched a promotional video for the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Villages Initiative,” gaining a deeper understanding of the project’s value. Meanwhile, representatives from the Academician Expert Workstation signed a cooperation agreement with officials from the Health and Wellness Bureau for bringing the academician-led project down to the grassroots level. Additionally, relevant officials from the Workstation signed a demonstration-site cooperation agreement with representatives from the local People’s Hospital.
The “Triad Sequential Therapy for Rheumatism and Pain,” developed by the team of Academician Liu Liang, integrates special acupuncture techniques targeting the meridians and tendons. The establishment of this demonstration site in Zhouqu will help the county people’s hospital build a specialized department focused on rheumatic and pain conditions. Moreover, through training and mentorship programs, it will enhance the diagnostic and treatment skills of primary-care medical staff throughout the county, enabling township health centers to also master relevant TCM techniques that are appropriate for local practice.
