Academician Program Goes to the Grassroots | The "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Villages Initiative" Demonstration Site Established in Jingxing County

On August 21, 2025, the unveiling and signing ceremony for the demonstration site of Academician Liu Liang's Expert Workstation's Rheumatology and Pain Triple-Sequential Therapy "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Villages Plan" was grandly held at Jingxing County Central Hospital. Attendees included Li Yanping, Deputy Director of Academician Liu Liang's Expert Workstation; He Zhiguo, Project Promotion Director; Wu Jianxia, Full-time Vice President of the County Family Planning Association; Li Xiangdong, Secretary of the Party Branch of the County Central Hospital, along with leaders from the county central hospital and staff members from 17 township health centers, who gathered together to witness this significant milestone.
At the ceremony, Li Xiangdong, Secretary of the Party Branch Committee of Jingxing County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, delivered the opening remarks. He provided a detailed overview of the hospital’s development journey and its achievements in specialized medical services. Highlighting the establishment of Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation as a demonstration site under the "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Plan," he emphasized that this initiative not only aligns with the national strategy of bringing medical resources down to grassroots levels but also precisely addresses the growing demand among Jingxing residents for high-quality diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic and pain-related conditions. This collaboration, he noted, will undoubtedly inject strong momentum into the hospital’s drive for high-quality development. Meanwhile, Yin Jianyong, Director of the Pain Department at Jingxing County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shared insights into the early-stage preparations for the training base on the Rheumatism and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy approach, as well as the progress made as a demonstration site within the "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Project." His remarks underscored the hospital’s proactive exploration and solid foundation in advancing its distinctive TCM-specialized departments.

He emphasized that the core mission of the "Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative" is to ensure that scientific and technological innovation benefits grassroots communities. In this regard, the Rheumatism and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy stands as a prime example of how modern medicine can be seamlessly integrated with the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine—guided by the holistic principles of TCM, it combines innovative techniques such as the Jingjin Special Acupuncture Method and single-component herbal injection solutions. This approach not only guarantees safety, efficiency, and convenience but also makes it perfectly suited for grassroots medical settings. Academician Liu expressed his hope that Jingxing County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine will use this demonstration site as a starting point, becoming a "highland" for technology application, a "cradle" for talent cultivation, and a "hub" for standardized promotion—ultimately paving the way for replicable, new models of grassroots TCM services.
After the ceremony, the attending leaders and experts visited the academician project’s specialized medical treatment area on-site, paying close attention to the zone’s planning layout, equipment setup, and the proposed model for delivering future clinical services. They offered valuable suggestions focusing on optimizing treatment processes and deepening the application of advanced technologies, thereby clarifying the detailed roadmap for subsequent work.
