This event represents another significant step taken by Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation to bring high-quality traditional Chinese medicine resources down to the grassroots level, thereby supporting rural revitalization and enhancing the specialized capabilities of county-level medical institutions.
Wang Wendong, Party Secretary and Director of the Liangzhou District Health Commission; Li Xiao, Party Secretary of Liangzhou Hospital in Wuwei City; Zhang Yong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the hospital; Li Yanping, Deputy Director of the Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation; He Zhiguo, National Director of the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” Project; representatives of Zhengqing Group; and key physicians from medical institutions at all levels jointly attended the event. The ceremony was chaired by Zhang Yong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Liangzhou Hospital in Wuwei City.

In his address, Wang Wendong stated that the establishment of demonstration sites under the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” initiative aims to translate the cutting-edge research achievements of Academician Liu Liang’s team in the fields of rheumatology, immunology, and pain management into high-quality medical services readily accessible to communities at the grassroots level. In his remarks, Li Xiao emphasized that Liangzhou Hospital will take the development of these demonstration sites as an opportunity to continuously strengthen its specialized capabilities in pain medicine and elevate the region’s standards of diagnosis and treatment for rheumatic and painful conditions to a new level.
In his address, Li Yanping highlighted that Academician Liu Liang’s team has consistently upheld the development philosophy of “using science and technology to deconstruct traditional Chinese medicine,” pioneering a new integrated model of diagnosis and treatment that combines Chinese and Western medicine. The team’s three‑step sequential therapy for rheumatic diseases and pain was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. Leveraging the core ingredient of Zhengqing Fengtongning, this approach boasts the advantages of simplicity, convenience, affordability, and proven efficacy, making it well suited for primary‑care settings. To date, it has been implemented in over 20,000 medical institutions nationwide, benefiting a broad spectrum of patients with rheumatic pain.
II. Official Inauguration Marks the Beginning of a New Chapter in Regional Collaboration
At the ceremony, Li Yanping and Wang Wendong jointly signed the “Academician Project Grassroots Cooperation Agreement,” while He Zhiguo and Zhang Yong signed the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Plan Demonstration Site Agreement.” Subsequently, the attending leaders unveiled the plaque for the “Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation – Rheumatology and Pain Triple‑Sequential Therapy Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Plan Demonstration Site,” marking the official designation of Liangzhou Hospital as a key hub for translating academic research into practical applications and promoting cutting‑edge technologies at the grassroots level.
III. Looking Ahead: Building a Regional Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Rheumatic Pain
The establishment of demonstration sites and the successful implementation of specialized training have further strengthened the Pain Department at Liangzhou Hospital in building its core competencies. Moving forward, Zhengqing Pharmaceutical will continue to leverage the Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation and the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” initiative, collaborating with Liangzhou Hospital to deliver high‑level academic training, advance clinical research into the sequential triple‑therapy approach for rheumatic and pain conditions, and support the hospital’s efforts to develop a regional center for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic and painful disorders—ensuring that local residents can access high‑quality medical services derived from the academician team’s scientific breakthroughs right at their doorstep.
