Academician-Led Initiative Takes Root at the Grassroots | The “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” Demonstration Site Established at Xianfeng County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital

On April 23, Xianfeng County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital solemnly held the signing and plaque-awarding ceremony for the “Academician Project Going to the Grassroots—Thousand Counties and Ten Thousand Towns Initiative” demonstration site. This milestone marks the official establishment of the Liu Liang Academician Expert Workstation’s “Thousand Counties and Ten Thousand Towns Initiative Demonstration Site” at Xianfeng County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, injecting strong momentum into the enhancement of primary-level TCM service capabilities in Xianfeng County and the high-quality development of its specialized department for rheumatic pain.
Tang Hongzhen, Deputy County Mayor of Xianfeng County People’s Government; Huang Jianbi, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the County Health Commission; Hu Xiaoqin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Xianfeng County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital; Li Yanping, Deputy Director of the Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation; Wang Xianping, Project Consultant; He Zhiguo, Project Director; and other relevant officials attended the ceremony. Key personnel from the county’s medical and health system also participated in the event.
The ceremony was presided over by Director Huang Jianbi of the Xianfeng County Health Commission. President Hu Xiaoqin reported on the progress of establishing demonstration sites under the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative”; Director He Zhiguo provided an overview of the nationwide rollout of the initiative, its core technological achievements, and plans for grassroots-level collaboration; and Deputy Station Director Li Yanping stated that the demonstration sites will serve the mission of “radiating to surrounding areas and providing services to the local community,” thereby helping Xianfeng build an integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnostic and treatment service system that links county, township, and village levels.
At the ceremony, Deputy Station Director Li Yanping and Director Huang Jianbi signed the Cooperation Agreement on the “Academician Project Going to the Grassroots”; Director He Zhiguo and President Hu Xiaoqin signed the Cooperation Agreement on the “Academician Project Going to the Grassroots—Demonstration Site under the ‘Thousand Counties and Ten Thousand Towns’ Initiative.” Subsequently, the attending leaders jointly unveiled the plaque for the demonstration site.
During the conference, a concurrent training program on the clinical practice and innovative applications of “323+” Miao and Tujia traditional medicine in the treatment of rheumatic diseases was held, comprehensively empowering primary-care health professionals, effectively enhancing their professional competence, and achieving the desired outcome of “training a group to drive progress across a wider area.” Following the training, the participating experts conducted an on-site visit to the demonstration site of Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation, gaining a detailed understanding of the facility layout, equipment configuration, clinical diagnosis and treatment processes, and operational planning. Based on the actual needs of primary-care specialty development, they provided guiding opinions and recommendations on such aspects as standardized construction of the demonstration site, implementation of advanced technologies, and talent cultivation.
This initiative has facilitated the precise alignment of high-end medical resources, thereby empowering primary-care TCM professionals. Moving forward, the Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation will continue to promote and apply appropriate TCM techniques, accelerate the training of TCM specialists at the grassroots level, ensure that the research achievements of academicians benefit local communities, and leverage the distinctive strengths of TCM to safeguard public health.
