The demonstration site for the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” initiative has been established at the Guanyang County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Guangxi.

On July 22, the on-site exchange meeting for the “Rheumatism and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy—Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative” was successfully held at the Guanyang County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Guangxi. Attending the event were Tang Peiyou, Party Secretary of the Guanyang County Health Commission; Tang Jun, President and Party Secretary of the Guanyang County TCM Hospital; Vice Presidents Xu Siyin, Liu Zunwei, and Jiang Xiaolan; Li Yanping, Deputy Director of the Academician Liu Liang Expert Workstation; He Zhiguo, National Project Director of the Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative; staff members of the Academician Workstation; as well as leaders and key physicians from medical institutions within the Guanyang County Medical Consortium—totaling more than 100 participants.
The event was chaired by Xu Siyin, Deputy Director of the Guanyang County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Tang Jun, Secretary of the hospital’s Party Committee, provided an overview of the hospital and the progress of the demonstration site’s development. Director Zhou Wanjun outlined the current state of the department’s growth and the application of the “Triple‑Sequential Therapy.” Project Director He Zhiguo presented an update on the nationwide rollout of the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” initiative for the Triple‑Sequential Therapy. Tang Peiyou, Secretary of the Health Commission, expressed gratitude for the academician workstation’s role in strengthening primary healthcare and articulated his expectations for the Guanyang County TCM Hospital to effectively implement the project and provide ongoing support. Deputy Station Director Li Yanping shared her vision of establishing the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” program at the Guanyang County TCM Hospital and set forth specific requirements for advancing both the demonstration site and the regional medical consortium.
Deputy Station Director Li Yanping and Director He Zhiguo each signed cooperation agreements with Tang Peiyou, Secretary of the Guanyang County Health Commission, and Tang Jun, Secretary of the Guanyang County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, clearly outlining their joint efforts to establish a specialized department for rheumatic pain and other related responsibilities. Finally, Deputy Station Director Li Yanping, Secretary Tang Peiyou, and leaders from both sides jointly unveiled the plaque and posed for a group photo, bringing the event to a thrilling climax.
Following the unveiling ceremony, leaders of the Academician Workstation, representatives from the Guanyang County Health Commission, and the leadership team of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital jointly toured the dedicated clinical treatment area for the Academician Project. They also engaged in an in-depth exchange on advancing the project’s subsequent initiatives, including training, clinical mentorship, and specialized department development. Professor Xia Yinping then delivered a lecture as part of the Academician Project, providing training and guidance to physicians at all levels from the Guanyang County Medical Consortium who had come to participate.
The establishment of this demonstration site represents an important step in bringing high-quality traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technologies down to the grassroots level. Moving forward, Guanyang County TCM Hospital will leverage the technical support of the academician workstation to train local professionals, promote these therapies within the regional medical consortium, and continuously enhance primary‑care diagnostic and treatment capabilities, ensuring that the distinctive strengths of TCM benefit a broader population of patients with rheumatic pain.
