The “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” program’s demonstration site has been established at the Zhongliang District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chongqing.

On June 24, the demonstration site for the “Rheumatism and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy – Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative” was officially inaugurated and a cooperation agreement was signed at the Tongliang District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chongqing. The event was attended by more than 100 participants, including Chen Qinghua, Deputy District Mayor of Tongliang; Tang Shengchang, Deputy Director of the District Health Commission; Xu An, Secretary of the Tongliang District TCM Hospital; Xie Haifeng, President; Li Weiguo, Vice President; Li Yanping, Deputy Director of Academician Liu Liang’s Expert Workstation; Xiao Liang, Project Advisor for the Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns Initiative; as well as leaders from regional medical consortium institutions. The ceremony was chaired by Xie Haifeng, President of the Tongliang District TCM Hospital, during which Secretary Xu An provided an overview of the hospital’s development and progress. Following a report by Director Liu Renjian on the operation of the training base and demonstration site for the Rheumatism and Pain Triple Sequential Therapy, and a presentation by Project Manager Xie Chuanhao on the nationwide implementation of the “Thousand Counties, Ten Thousand Towns” initiative, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement. Deputy Director Li Yanping and General Manager Liu Guangxiong respectively signed the agreement with Director Tang Shengchang of the Tongliang District Health Commission and Secretary Xu An of the Tongliang District TCM Hospital, clearly defining the responsibilities of all parties in jointly establishing a specialized department for rheumatism and pain.
Tang Shengchang, Director of the Tongliang District Health Commission, delivered a speech expressing gratitude for the support provided by Zhengqing Group and outlining specific requirements for the Tongliang District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to implement the project. Deputy Station Chief Li Yanping voiced her aspiration that thousands of counties and tens of thousands of townships would establish their bases at the Tongliang District TCM Hospital, while expressing anticipation for the successful establishment of demonstration sites and the rollout of regional medical consortiums. In his closing remarks, Chen Qinghua, Vice District Mayor of Tongliang District, thanked the personnel supported by the Academician Workstation and set forth clear expectations for the implementation of demonstration‑site development and county‑level specialized‑department construction, conveying high hopes for their success. At the conclusion of the event, the attending leaders jointly unveiled a plaque, bringing the atmosphere to a thrilling climax.
Following the unveiling ceremony, all guests toured the academician‑led project’s clinical consultation zone and engaged in an in-depth discussion on advancing the demonstration site’s ongoing initiatives, including academician‑led training, clinical mentorship, and specialized department development.
The establishment of this demonstration site represents an important step in bringing high-quality traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technologies to the grassroots level. Moving forward, the Tongliang District TCM Hospital in Chongqing will leverage the technical support of the academician workstation to train local professionals, promote these therapies within the regional medical consortium, and continuously enhance primary‑care diagnostic and treatment capabilities, ensuring that the distinctive strengths of TCM benefit a broader range of community patients.
