From May 17th to 19th, Bater, Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, Director and Party Secretary of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, led a delegation to Hunan to investigate ethnic affairs and regional development and poverty alleviation work in the Wuling Mountains area. During the investigation, Du Jiahao, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, held a discussion with Bater and his delegation.
Du Jiahao stated that Hunan is a multi-ethnic province, and doing ethnic work well is particularly important for Hunan's development. The Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government attach great importance to ethnic work, effectively promoting regional development and poverty alleviation in the Wuling Mountains area, accelerating project construction, and implementing a series of poverty alleviation measures such as "Four Follows, Four Goes" industrial poverty alleviation and "Ten Thousand Enterprises Assisting Ten Thousand Villages" targeted poverty alleviation. They focus on guaranteeing and improving people's livelihoods, and the Wuling Mountains area has shown a good situation of accelerating economic and social development and continuously strengthening ethnic unity. Hunan will thoroughly implement the central government's decisions and deployments, treat poverty alleviation as a top priority and the primary livelihood project, transmit pressure layer by layer, consolidate responsibilities, resolutely win the battle against poverty, significantly improve the lives of all ethnic groups in the Wuling Mountains area, and promote the prosperity and development of ethnic unity and progress throughout the province.
Bater said that under the correct leadership of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, Hunan's economic and social development has progressed by leaps and bounds, achieving remarkable results. As a large province with a significant ethnic minority population, Hunan's ethnic relations are harmonious, and its poverty alleviation efforts have yielded significant results, with great development potential for the next step. He hoped that through this investigation, Hunan's good experiences and practices in poverty alleviation in ethnic minority areas could be summarized, actively promoting continuous new breakthroughs in Hunan's ethnic work.
During the investigation, Bater visited Huaihua City and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, inspecting enterprises and industrial parks, and visiting people in need. Bater fully affirmed Huaihua's successful experience in the development of ethnic trade and products enterprises and agricultural industrialization construction. In Shibadong Village, the autonomous prefecture, Bater requested that targeted poverty alleviation be organically combined with agricultural industrialization, urbanization, and the creation of ethnic unity and progress, continuously innovating replicable and scalable poverty alleviation models, and playing a demonstrative and leading role in the pilot work of regional development and poverty alleviation in the Wuling Mountains area.
